Last summer, I was in the 170s when I kept up with my blog. I slacked all school year and I'm 30+ pounds heavier and the heaviest I've ever been in my life. On the plus side, I don't look like I weigh 200 pounds, but that can also be a negative. I have embarked on a new plan. I'm doing the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred, and today was day 1. She's a tough trainer and she'll have you sweating through this quick 20 minute workout. I felt ready to give up at some points during the workout, but I pressed on.
On a side note, I weighed myself last week and I was 205 pounds. That number scares me. I know I may have been bloated due to my cycle being here, so I plan on weighing myself this coming Tuesday. I still can't believe that I gained 30 pounds in a school year. I vow to never be in the 200s again in my life, and I will keep that promise because I don't like what I see when I look in the mirror.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16008765786403081892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1245686402788057843.post-64872221354055410052011-06-20T15:03:00.000-07:002011-06-20T15:03:33.788-07:00Setbacks...not FailuresI weigh approximately 205 pounds as of yesterday. This is the heaviest I've ever been. This summer is the time for me to settle down and really lose the extra 80 or so pounds I'm carrying around on my frame. I'm pretty sure that's the reason my feet fall asleep so often. I'm going to try and update often and I'm hoping to weigh significantly less than I do now with a combination of healthy eating, calorie counting, and exercise. I'll be an even better version of me! So I see this not as a failure, just a MAJOR setback. Skinny jeans, I'll be seeing you soon!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16008765786403081892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1245686402788057843.post-41854396421905319182011-03-10T06:19:00.000-08:002011-03-10T06:19:59.796-08:00Lent!So today is Day 2 of Lent and I'm really craving something sweet. But of course, I gave up sweets for Lent. I think it's a good exercise for me to complete. I also gave up cussing, but that's another story. So I decided that since I was really leaning toward eating some of my stores of sugar on a certain shelf in my room, I would write a post instead so I could hold back the cravings. They are slowly going away as I write this, but I still really want some Girl Scout cookies or Hi Chew candy. But, if I can stay strong, I'll be really happy about keeping this resolution.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16008765786403081892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1245686402788057843.post-28948542986118046922010-08-03T14:36:00.000-07:002010-08-03T17:36:04.989-07:00What I'm Planning on Eating...when I finally get hungrySo...I still have almost 600 calories to eat for the rest of the day.
5 Hershey's Special Dark Kisses - 100 calories
2 tbsp peanut butter - 170 calories
1/2 cup quick oats - 140 calories
3 oz salmon - 90 calories
If I can fit it, 1 packet of Scooby Doo Snacks - 90 calories
Total: 600 calories
That sounds like so much food. Ughhhh.

Edit: change those fruit snacks to a string cheese. 70 calories.
New total: 580 calories.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16008765786403081892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1245686402788057843.post-62623856813051337582010-08-03T12:26:00.000-07:002010-08-03T12:26:38.537-07:00Still CountingI grabbed lunch!
1 cup watermelon - about 50 calories
1 cup pineapple - 140 calories
1 cup honeydew - 61 calories
1 slice cheese pizza - about 250 calories
Lunch total: 401 calories

If I actually finish eating all of this, I'll have 569 calories left to eat for the day. Groan...I can't eat this much food!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16008765786403081892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1245686402788057843.post-91515860094131567722010-08-03T11:16:00.000-07:002010-08-03T11:25:42.932-07:00Calorie CountingSo I totally decided that I'm going to attempt to eat at least 1500 calories for the day. That's how many calories I need to eat to weigh 120 pounds. I feel like this is going to be a challenge. So far, all I've eaten for the day is a Fuji apple, which is 130 calories according to Calorie Count. I'm going to eat a granola bar right now, which is 100 calories, and 7 cubes of colby jack cheese coming in at 110 calories. So far, my total for the day is going to be 340 calories. 1160 more calories to go!

Edit: Add a cup of skim milk to my total so far which is 130 calories. So I still have to eat 1030 more calories.
2nd Edit: 5 wheat Saltines - 60 calories. Finally under 1000!!! 970 more calories!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16008765786403081892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1245686402788057843.post-37832374073071622692010-08-01T23:43:00.000-07:002010-08-01T23:43:55.531-07:00First Diet Break Day...Sort OfSo today I actually deviated from my diet a little bit but not to the point of oblivion. I still ate small portions, but today I had some rotisserie chicken. A friend bought a whole rotisserie chicken and fed a bunch of us in the dorm. And it was good. I just now came back from Starbucks where I proceeded to indulge in a Venti Passion Iced Tea Lemonade. And it was good. And only 190 calories. I loved every sip of it, and that might just be my new drink! I feel good. I totally didn't go over the calorie count because I didn't eat today due to the fact that I was braiding a friend's hair(and getting paid for it) and I was rushing to finish it so I could go to the gym.

Speaking of the gym, I totally did weights today with a friend and I felt good. My arms and pectoral muscles are definitely going to be aching when I wake up tomorrow morning! I didn't really do too much leg work, just a little inner and outer thighs. And I crammed in some ab work. Then I proceeded to partake of my favorite pasttime, eating. Just kidding! I played some basketball for a little while. Oh, almost forgot this part! The scale read 172.6 pounds today!! I feel good...Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16008765786403081892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1245686402788057843.post-72047609241659175272010-08-01T10:00:00.000-07:002010-08-01T10:00:47.546-07:00Review of Senna TeaOk, I'll edit this later and post a pic of the brand of Senna tea that I bought, but I'd honestly rather deal with magnesium citrate than this tea. I took it around 6:30 PM last night and I followed the instructions on the box to a T. It said that it would take between 6 to 12 hours to set in. It is almost 10 in the morning. It took almost 16 hours to set in. When I take something that says laxative on the box, I want it to work faster than that. Overall, I'd probably take this tea again, but I'd have to have something to do that would make me want to delay my bowel movements.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16008765786403081892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1245686402788057843.post-61525846409108470562010-07-31T09:27:00.000-07:002010-07-31T09:27:01.680-07:00Whoops!Sorry for not updating yesterday, but I totally crashed around 8 last night and it was a good sleep. Anyway, I know for a fact that I didn't even eat 1000 calories yesterday because I didn't eat much at lunch. I wasn't supposed to eat at lunch, but I did anyway. I did a quick weigh in wearing street clothes, but no shoes and the scale said 173.8. Not bad, but I gotta take that Senna tea soon. Maybe I'll even buy some magnesium citrate. That stuff is powerful, so don't plan on going anywhere for the entire day unless you have a Port-A-Potty with you at all times. Besides that, I think that was all that happened yesterday. Updates later!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16008765786403081892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1245686402788057843.post-13196912877649299522010-07-29T22:23:00.000-07:002010-07-29T22:23:18.033-07:00It's A Wonderful...Finally!!! I finally took a crap today!!! I hate being constipated!!! I even went and bought some Senna laxative tea from my health food store today. I haven't taken any yet because it apparently takes 6 to 12 hours to take effect and I don't have that kind of time to sit back and wait for stuff to happen.

Moving on, I tried something new while I was at the health food store: Acai juice.

Ignore the clutter around the bottle. I tried it in the light version because it has less sugar. It actually tastes pretty great, but I wouldn't buy this on the regular because it costs just over 2 dollars for the 12 ounce bottle. Maybe this attributed to my bowel movement.

No weigh-in today due to the fact that I knew I was weighed down by some extra waste.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16008765786403081892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1245686402788057843.post-39502772058102774982010-07-28T23:40:00.000-07:002010-07-28T23:40:36.730-07:00Quick Weigh-InI'm very excited about today's number: 174.2!!!! Yay!!!! I weighed myself after dinner today and I know I'm a little constipated, so I can't wait to get all that extra weight out of my system. I'm thinking of buying a laxative tea to help relieve myself because my fiber supplements aren't enough.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16008765786403081892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1245686402788057843.post-51829033123482708112010-07-28T12:50:00.000-07:002010-07-28T12:50:51.140-07:00Edit...of another dayI was rereading an entry I wrote a couple days ago and I realized that it sounded a little anorexic-like. I said something like "I can eat under 1000 calories for the day". If anyone out there reads this, let me clarify this for you. I have to force myself to eat more because I never realized that if you were eating the right foods, how much you can eat of them and still not consume a large number of calories. So I do try to hit at least 1000 calories for the day, I am not trying to "starve myself skinny". That's what I say when my family goes on vacation and my dad only wants us to pay for 1 meal a day(lunch) because he thinks we don't need more food than that. I want to obtain my goal weight in a healthy manner.
Sidenote: I think Splenda made me sick. I have the illest headache today and I've never gotten a headache like this from lack of sleep or lack of food. I'm going to sleep early tonight and see how my head feels if I eat Splenda tomorrow.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16008765786403081892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1245686402788057843.post-90974737316571665942010-07-28T12:32:00.000-07:002010-07-28T12:32:36.652-07:00Lunch UpdateToday's lunch menu is brought to you courtesy of: La Sierra University cafeteria. As always. So I grabbed the usual fruit and a few vegetables, but I also grabbed a small bowl of spinach bow-tie pasta salad. Picture below:

I tasted it and it tastes ok, not greasy or anything, but I doubt that I'll finish eating all of it. I'll probably grab a can of salmon and mix some black pepper in and eat that. It tastes way better, in my opinion.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16008765786403081892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1245686402788057843.post-31835198901748483842010-07-28T11:24:00.000-07:002010-07-28T11:35:26.318-07:00Yummy New Breakfast Food

So this morning, I attempted to make peanut butter balls with 1/2 cup of quick oats, 2 tbsp of organic peanut butter, 2 tsp of Splenda, and 1/8 tsp of cinnamon. That's what the closeup above is. Look under the jump to see it in my ready-to-go container.

Obviously, there are no peanut butter balls in this. I think this failed since I poured all the oil off the top of my peanut butter. So I ate it like dry cereal and it tasted really good, like peanut butter granola. I think I've found a new breakfast food! I also ate a stick of the reduced fat string cheese very slowly. I think my classmates were getting hungry from me eating in class. The granola has about 300 calories in it total.

Edit: Fact I learned today: Cravings only last about 5 minutes, so do something that will take your mind off your craving and they will go away. I felt this in action yesterday when I walked past the sugar cookies in the cafeteria. They are pretty tasty, but they're really sweet and if you leave them on a napkin, they will leave grease spots. I don't want something like that in my body.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16008765786403081892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1245686402788057843.post-26448254523417005962010-07-27T21:32:00.000-07:002010-07-27T21:34:17.729-07:00My Day - Shopping and EatingSo let me start by saying I'm really surprised at how well my diet is going. I can eat all sorts of things(in moderation, of course) and still be well under 1000 calories for the day. For example, I can eat 3 Hershey's special dark chocolate kisses for only 60 calories. If you suck them instead of biting them, they last for quite a while. Without further ado, here's a pic of my lunch:

So I actually ended up eating about half at lunch with a cup of reduced fat milk and the other half I had for dinner. At dinner I also had 5 wheat Saltines with 1 tbsp of organic peanut butter(I poured the oil off), 5 Hershey's special dark kisses, and 1 reduced fat string cheese. I'm also now finishing up the remains of a 90 calorie pack of fruit snacks. It's taken me at least 30 minutes to eat them now and I still have 2 left.

I went to the supermarket today and picked up the following groceries:

100 calories per granola bar. Yummy!!!
I feel like such a fatty until I count up the number of calories I eat for the day. Then I get all proud of myself for showing self-control. I bought the Top Ramen, pineapple chunks(in fruit juice, not syrup), and the Scooby Doo fruit snacks(the unidentifiable box that's open) a week ago so they weren't in my shopping pictures and my big container of quick oats isn't up on the shelf like it usually is(I didn't put it back up there after breakfast this morning).

And I weighed in at the gym tonight after dinner and it says 174.8, so I know I weigh less since I was weighed down by my food and water. I also did some light weights for my arms and thighs. Let's see....oh and since I walked to the supermarket and back, I definitely walked over a mile for the day. That's all for now!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16008765786403081892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1245686402788057843.post-9159124090773396522010-07-26T14:56:00.000-07:002010-07-26T14:57:05.796-07:00Lunch at SouplantationSo I did keep healthy but I ate soooo much!!! And I had a lemonade with the pulp in it. It wasn't too sweet so I hope there weren't too many calories in it. And the piece de resistance, my salad:

No dressing, just cherry tomatoes, kidney beans, corn, lettuce, green peppers, cabbage and carrots. It was delicious! Here's what my less healthy best friend had:

Not so good since he smothered it in ranch dressing and croƻtons. And he also ate a baked potato chopped with sour cream and shredded cheddar cheese along with some creamy clam chowder. Yikes! That's a lot of calories, but he's a guy and he plays basketball a lot so he'll be fine.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16008765786403081892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1245686402788057843.post-68167852967828203772010-07-26T11:52:00.000-07:002010-07-26T11:52:42.758-07:00Eating OutSo my best friend hit me up after class today and asked me if I wanted to go and grab something to eat with him. This is my first team eating out since I have started this diet. Hopefully I get something really healthy and filling with a low calorie count.

Besides that, I discovered today how filling those almonds can be. I ate 8 almonds after class because I'm starving and the cafeteria wasn't open yet(which I won't be going to since I'm going out to eat) and within minutes my hunger pangs went away. I have to ask my mom to send me some more of those almonds! They're raw and that's honestly the way almonds and cashews taste best to me. They both taste kind of sweet, almonds tasting a little like coconut even.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16008765786403081892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1245686402788057843.post-92198614292977007022010-07-26T07:14:00.000-07:002010-07-26T07:15:09.969-07:00Good Morning....InternetI'm up bright and early today! I just came back from the gym and I was feeling a little light-headed this morning so I only got to 21 minutes on the elliptical before I got off. It said that I burned 235 calories in those 21 minutes so I'm pretty content with that. I'm gonna get to my daily bowl of oatmeal now before I faint out of hunger!

Edit: Totally forgot to tell you that the scale said I weigh exactly 175 pounds without my shoes.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16008765786403081892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1245686402788057843.post-5551083392548434822010-07-25T19:42:00.000-07:002010-07-25T19:48:58.938-07:00Again?Yes, I'm updating twice in one day. Remember the early days when I used to update more than once a day? Me neither. Seems like so long ago. Anywho, I just came back from the gym. I weighed myself with my shoes on before workout and the scale said 178.something. I can't remember what it said. I did 45 minutes on the elliptical at resistance level 5 and I burned 558.5 calories. Woohoo!!! If I do this everyday, I can burn at least a pound of fat off every week just through working out, not even considering my diet. Then I played a little basketball for 30 minutes and came back to tell you everything I did. Oh, and I weighed myself after I got off the elliptical and I weighed 176.2 without my shoes. I think this is my actual weight now. And funny fact for the day: When I tell people I weigh almost 180 pounds, no one believes me. They're convinced the scale is broken and I can't weigh more than 150-160 pounds. Well I do, and that's that. I think having size 36G breasts can weigh down a person quite a bit.

Edit: I just found out that 36G breasts weigh about 5 pounds each. So let's subtract 10 pounds from my current weight to see what the rest of my body weighs and we get....... 166.2 pounds. Ok, so maybe that's why people can't believe how much I weigh. I can't wait until I weigh 166 or less. I'm gonna work my butt off(literally...ok maybe not. I have a pretty nice normal butt.) to get there. Hope all my weight loss dreams come true!!!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16008765786403081892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1245686402788057843.post-67239246742878124012010-07-25T13:31:00.000-07:002010-07-25T13:32:42.315-07:00New Diet, New MeHey guys!
I'm back for real this time!!! So I've started on a new and improved healthy diet. I'm eating lots of fruits and vegetables, I'm getting protein and a few carbs. A typical day goes something like this:

Breakfast:
1 serving of oatmeal (Quick Oats)
7 cubes of Colby & Monterey cheese

Snack:
canned pineapple in fruit juice NOT syrup
7-8 almonds

Lunch:
plenty of fruits/vegetables
Lunch is actually my biggest meal.

Dinner:
3 oz can of salmon with black pepper

Snack:
1 individual packet of Scooby Doo fruit snacks
7-8 more almonds

So that's pretty much all I eat for the day. It may not sound like a lot, but already I'm starting to feel fuller on less food. The only thing that really varies are my snacks. Sometimes I won't eat snacks at all, depending on how hungry I'm feeling and I try not to eat after 7 pm. I weighed myself last Wednesday and I weighed just under 180 lb, and I had just eaten, so hopefully I weigh a lot less this week, when I start weighing myself before any meals. I also eat Ramen sometimes for dinner if I feel especially hungry, but I don't use the seasoning included because it contains MSG. I just discovered that yesterday. MSG may hinder weight loss, so if you're eating potato chips or other foods that contain MSG, you could weigh a lot less than you do. I simply put a pinch of salt and a lot of black pepper in the water and eat the noodles. I'm also limiting my salt since salt causes water retention and I don't know if I'm bloated. Overall, I feel pretty healthy and I hope to continue on this journey with you here and hopefully I'll keep updating.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16008765786403081892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1245686402788057843.post-55312204970585425722010-06-01T00:54:00.000-07:002010-06-01T00:54:28.144-07:00OMG!!! Slacker!!Sooo...I am such a slacker!!! I haven't posted in almost 2 months! I have been slacking both on here and on my workout. I'm gonna get back into working out and eating healthy. I was totally gonna give up sugar again, but since it's summer and I eat popsicles to eat cool, I'd have to switch to water popsicles, essentially ice. But I know I gained a couple of pounds back, so I'm going to eat healthy and workout again while working on growing out my hair in my Hide Your Hair Challenge. I will try to keep up with my food journal on here and tell you all about my weight loss and any setbacks that occur. Love you all!!!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16008765786403081892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1245686402788057843.post-58635971251882938622010-05-03T15:54:00.000-07:002010-05-03T15:55:43.392-07:00May 3, 2010 - LunchSoooo....I'm back on sugar!!!!! I've been missing in action lately, but I'm back now!!! I'll be returning to my daily workouts, with the addition of weights, which I've been keeping up with because of my weight training class. So Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays are weight days, mainly because I have weight training class scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays are strictly cardio days. I've missed the gym so much while I was sick. And I promise to keep up with the food journal. See you soon!!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16008765786403081892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1245686402788057843.post-18602094823572436882010-04-21T15:32:00.000-07:002010-04-21T15:32:19.564-07:00April 21, 2010 - RemorseHey guys,

I don't know if you've been following my blog, but you might notice that I haven't updated in almost a week. Sorry! First, I was busy and then I got sick. I still am sick, but I'm feeling better. Except for the part where I have no voice. I literally whisper everything I say. Sucks, but such is life. I just managed to write this entry since I'm sitting in class being bored to death. Oh, the joys of philosophy.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16008765786403081892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1245686402788057843.post-25774247265509837252010-04-14T22:30:00.001-07:002010-04-14T22:30:29.985-07:00April 13, 2010 - DinnerOk, I'm getting lazy but I have to keep up with this.
